Birmingham Airport had 936,868 passengers in June, up 2.8 percent on the same month last year. It had 640,793 scheduled passengers and 296,075 charter passengers spread across its two passenger terminals.
Acting managing director Joe Kelly said: ‘During June we saw 9 new routes, offering greater choice and variety for passengers travelling from their local airport.’
In June growth was achieved on Non EU routes of 8.5 percent and EU of 9.8 percent. The Irish Republic saw an increase of 13.1 percent, whist scheduled routes that experienced growth in June included: Billund (up 217 percent), Ercan (up 116.3 percent), Geneva (up 100 percent), Inverness (up 78.7 percent), Marseille (up 65.3 percent) and Larnaca (up 55.5 percent). Charter routes that experienced growth included Egypt (up 87.6 percent), Madeira (up 39.2 percent) and Morocco (up 38.5 percent).
