Blackpool Airport has objected to plans for a giant new £2.5m wind turbine on the outskirts of Garstang. The airport fears that the 127m high turbine at the Dewlay cheese factory off the A6 at Kirkland would hamper their radar - threatening the safety of planes and passengers.
A spokeswoman for the airport there were concerns about the tower showing up on its radar. However, Dewlay's agents, Wind Direct, said: ‘We believe that there will be no significant negative effect on the airport's ability to safely route aircraft.'
