Flyglobespan has bucked the downward trend in passenger numbers by selling tickets 14 months in advance, the Scotsman reports. The budget airline, which flies from Glasgow , Aberdeen and Edinburgh Airport, put flights to European destinations on sale last week for bookings until October next year at this year's prices.
The airline has said the uptake has been 'overwhelming', with customers buying the flights in twice the numbers they did last year. Travel agents are also snapping up flights to sell on to customers as package bookings with hotels and cruises, the newspaper adds.
Summer flights to destinations including Palma and Malaga went on sale on last Wednesday, and Flyglobespan has been amazed at how many people have booked them already. The airline's chief executive, Rick Green, told the newspaper: ‘Our customers know that to get the widest choice of low fares and availability, they need to book early.’
