A flight from Edinburgh Airport to Alicante was delayed earlier this year because of a drunken passenger – a 68-year old great-grandmother - the Scotsman reports.
Elizabeth Lees of Nisbet Street, Chapelhall, was so drunk that she had to be removed from the flight. At Edinburgh Sheriff Court yesterday, she was fined £250 after pleading guilty to being drunk on board a plane on March 13 this year.
The newspaper reports that Mrs Lees, who has 7 grown-up children and 22 grandchildren and great-grandchildren, had arrived early at the airport for her 2 week holiday and had been drinking. The plane's doors had been closed in preparation for take-off, but there was a problem with seating.
Whilst resolving the problem, a senior cabin crew member saw that Mrs Lees was drunk . When the captain spoke to her, she was unsteady on her feet and her eyes were red and bloodshot. She was removed from the plane and arrested by airport police.
