Ryanair is considering opening a base at Leeds Bradford Airport. The Telegraph & Argus reports that this would include expanding the number of flights it operates from the Yorkshire hub to between 10 and 20.
Last month the budget airline announced 2 new routes from Leeds Bradford to Spain, days after cutting back its winter schedule to Dublin by 34%. Ryanair said the additional flights were expected to bring an extra 100,000 passengers through the airport.
Ryanair’s chief executive Michael O’Leary said the airline was in talks with Leeds Bradford, but any expansion would depend on the airport agreeing a low-cost deal. Tony Hallwood, the airport’s development director, said he is in talks with a wide number of or airlines, including Ryanair, about future operations.
