The Marriott Hotel Liverpool Airport will become part of the InterContinental group from August 1, with a new name as well as a new owner, abtn.co.uk reports. The 163-room, 4 star hotel, which occupies the original art deco arport terminal and control tower a mile from the new terminal, will become the Crowne Plaza Liverpool Airport.
John Paul Nel, Marriott’s VP for Northern England, told abtn that the hotel was owned by Neptune Holdings, who are to exit the hotel business. ‘The property was put up for sale and Marriott was outbid by another company [InterContinental].’
Andy Cosslett, CEO of InterContinental Hotels, said: ‘We are delighted to be adding a Crowne Plaza near the busy Liverpool Airport. The hotel is a welcome addition to what is already one of our fastest growing brands around the world.’
