Robin Hood Airport luggage warning

03.08.08

Robin Hood Airport has warned passengers to stick to luggage limits as they use the airport during the busiest period of the year. The airport has also asked that passengers follow restrictions regarding liquids placed in hand luggage.

Robin Hood Airport director Mike Morton said: ‘The summer is an extremely busy time. To avoid costly mistakes, and to keep queuing to a minimum, we are asking passengers to be prepared and to think about what they are carrying in their luggage.’

‘When items are discovered in hand luggage that exceed the volumes allowed, or do not comply with the restrictions, we have no alternative but to confiscate them. This slows down the security process for all passengers and causes disappointment and often financial loss for the passenger concerned.’

Current limits - introduced two years ago - mean liquids, gels and aerosols can be carried in individual 100ml containers that fit comfortably in a re-sealable clear bag no larger than 20cm by 20cm. However, passengers are advised to put liquids within their hold luggage if they can.
